Cleft Clinical Fellow (Maternity Cover)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Clinical Fellow to join the Cleft Net East on a six-month contract with possible extension to cover maternity leave for the current Cleft TIG Fellow starting in March 2019. On-call in base specialty may be available for nights and weekends if desired.
Cleft.NET.East is one of nine specialised cleft services across the UK. We are committed to providing high quality care to children and adults affected by a cleft in the East of England region.
This is a busy post based at Addenbrookes Hospital that will provide advanced experience with children and adults with a cleft lip and palate.
• To take an active role in Cleft Lip and Palate surgery
• To actively manage Cleft In-patient Services including ward rounds, preadmission and theatre lists
• To develop operative and outpatient skills
• Participation in medical audit, research, continuing medical education and medical governance
• This is a service based position although some training will be provided
There will be experience in all aspects of cleft care including MDT clinic experience, surgical planning and assisting the surgeons in theatre, and undertaking ward rounds and discharging patients. They will also contribute to research, audit and teaching activities for the service. The successful candidate should be of StR or post CCT level (or equivalent) and it is desirable that they have 4 years’ experience in a Specialist Registrar type 1 post, hold the FRCS/MRCS and be eligible to take or have obtained the intercollegiate exit examination or equivalent at time of interview, although an exceptional candidate earlier in training may be considered. Candidates can come from any of the parent specialties approved for sub-speciality training in Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery (Maxillo-facial Surgery, Plastic Surgery or ENT). Candidates applying from overseas should have equivalent experience in their parent specialty.
