Job overview
An exciting opportunity to join an established team with a proven track record of management of Complex Facial Injuries within in a true Multidisciplinary team. The fellow will be exclusively involved in the full spectrum of management across all specialties including OMFS, ENT, Neurosurgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. There is also close liaison with dental school specialties.
During the 12 month program the fellow will be exposed to significant complex trauma with approximately 150 Zygomatico orbital fractures, 40% Jacquiery 4 5, 20 Panfacial fractures, 150 mandibular fractures, and 50 condylar fractures, approximately 40% of these are intracapsular. In addition the department manages acute soft tissue trauma, approximately 1500 per year, a proportion of which will require complex management and secondary s car work. The fellow will have access to two twelve hour general anaesthesia lists, as well as emergency access lists.
There is also opportunity to work with the ENT surgeon who focuses solely on rhinoplasty and FESS, and also to participate in acute neurosurgical management including decompression craniotomy, and intracranial bolt placement. The hospital has a world famous trauma team, and close liaison is expected which will further develop the fellow’s experience.
The fellow will participate in a 1 in 7 On Call rota and be truly embedded in the totality of complex traumatology that will enhance understanding and career focus and development.

Essential criteria
- MBBS AND BDS or equivalent and full registration with the General Dental Council (UK)
- MJDF or equivalent
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- Completed SHO level experience in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. At least one year registrar level of training.
